Relaxing Sunday Sewing

My daughter and my grandson came over after church. She finished the cat quilt for her friends aunt. We also got her dog quilt knoted and the binding is on and all she has to do is stitch the back. We also made a no-sew fleece blanket with Terry Scott. Terry Scott and I also baked cookies thanks to Judy. Heidi helped me get another quilt sandwiched together for me to start on this week.

This is what I have been up to

I haven't written on my blog for a while.  I am  laid off work so I've been looking for a job.  Running my Mother back and forth to all her Doctor appointments.

I have been helping my daughter sew, or should I say I've been sewing a quilt she is supose to be making.

And I've been working on a few quilts of my own. This is the  Silly Baby quilt for my Grandaughter for Christmas.

I finished a cat kit quilt.

And my on going Grandmother's flower garden quilt. This is my take along project. It has been to ball games, doctor appointments with my mom, and Friday night sewing at Judy's.

Let's not forget the go cart races, in which my grandson, Blake and his father, Ronnie, both participate in.

Friday Night Sew In

Tonight was the Friday Night Sew In for September. I spent the evening with Judy. We made a quick stop at JoAnn fabrics and I got some more cat fabric to make another cat quilt and some more flannel for a flannel quilt I am working. Those purchases stayed in ther car as I had decided to work on my Grandmother's Flower Garden. I was able to put it up on Judy's design wall and see how is will go together. So far I have the white around one flower and needed to add more flowers. This is hand pieced and paper lined project that goes with me every where. Anytime I have a few minutes of free time I either put a flower together, add some green, add some white or baste something.

Friday night get together.......

Here is the picture of the table topper I made last Friday for Friday Night Sew In. My friends camera got hungry and ate the first set of pictures that were taken.  Tonight I worked on ironing a basket of scraps in which were being made in to scrappy quilted bags to use going to the grocery, carrying stuff back and forth to work, or  a purse what ever your hearts desire.  I sewed some on My Grandmothers Flower Garden quilt. My goal is to make one complete flower a week.  Oh boy, I have a lot of sewing to do tomorrow.

UFO--Grandmother's Flower Garden

One of my unfinished works in progress is My Grandmother's Flower Garden Quilt.
My friend Judy gave me a few "flowers" as a always carry a in your purse project something to always carry with me to pull out whenever I have a few minutes to work on it.  It was a great ideal.  I work on it at doctor's appointments, idle time at work, waiting at a resturant, waiting before and in between the races.  Whenever I can get a few spare minutes.  My goal is to make one complete flower a week so for I have four done and four half done.

I finished mine before I went home.  Judy made table runner to match her dinning room. Which turned out beautiful.  Go to Friday Night Sew In  and see what everyone else has accomplished.

Memory T-shirt Quilt

My Daughter and I have start a memory t-shirt quilt using shirts she has kept for the past 10 years. They were special shirts she has saved that her son has worn.

Teaching my Grandson to sew

My Grandson wanted to make a racing themed quilt. I took him to Walmart and he picked out all the fabric he wanted to use.

To many projects going at once.

Bryleigh and Scotty
After my daughter saw the match quilt I made for my grandson she just had to make one. She has a special little girl, Bryleigh, that she babysits and made her one for her birthday that her son Scotty and I helped her with.

July 30th

Blake's surgery went well. The nurse kept telling him he got to ride out of the hospital in a go-cart wheelchair. When Blake saw the wheelchair he told the nurse, "That not a go-cart."

Blake got his tonsils out.

I finishes my Grandson Blakes quilt finished in time for his surgery. Blake got his tonsils taken out on Friday.
He loved his memory match game quilt.  His younger brother Caiden wanted to know where his was.  I told him when he gets his tonsils out he would get one.  Just kidding.  I told him his was half way done. So you know what that means... I have to get his done.

I spent today working on unfinished projects.

Tomorrow my Daughter and Grandson Terry Scott are comming over after church. I'm teaching Terry Scott how to sew.  He's making a quilt for his bed.

How I became The Bag Lady..

It all started at work. One morning I noticed a lady (Judy) was sewing something. So I stopped by to see what she was doing. She was hand quilting a table runner for her dining room table. Every morning after that I stopped by to see what she was working on or had finished. She was always working on something, quilting, sewing, designing, or looking at magazines, you never knew what she be doing.

One day Judy asked me if I wanted to go The Ohio Valley Quilter Guild meeting with her. I went and from that moment I was hooked. I hadn't sewed in over four years. So I went home and got into the storage room and drug out my machine and dusted it off.

Judy invited me over one day after work and gave me probably 25 yards of stash to get me started and you couldn't even see there was anything missing from her stash.

Judy and I have been getting together several times a week to sew. Judy has the "Coolest Best Toys" at her house. My favorite is probably EQ7. I am glad that I can't afford it because I'd be sitting in front of my computer all day.

Judy has opened a Pandora's Box. She has become my quilting teacher. I have learned so much from her. She gives me homework to do. Making me look things up on the internet and loads of magazines to look at.

EVERY TIME I go to Judy's house I have a bag, either I am bringing one or she is filling one for me. I now have several of my bags at her house with various projects in different stages. And that is I became the Bag Lady Quilter.

Here is my current project. It is a memory quilt for my grandson, Blake. He is having his tonsils taken out tomorrow and this is for his recovery. The second picture is a close up of the quilt, the big black and white check is on the back and the small black and white check is the binding.

Have a blessed day,
Jennifer
